From the vine to the bottle, winemaking passes through numerous stages. In September, time for the harvest!
Right now, in Alsace our grape pickers are working to meticulously harvest the fruit that will make up the 2022 vintage.
For us, the harvest represents the culmination of a year of work and patience, and the atmosphere is both unique and convivial. Our workers very prudently pick the grapes by hand, a careful and qualitative way to get the best the vintage has to offer.
Did you know? In order to conserve all the efforts expended in the vineyards beforehand and to maintain the quality potential of the harvest, we use small containers, called palox, so as to protect the integrity of the berries that arrive whole at the wine press.
Nature’s magic acquired by human know-how, the designation Vendanges Tardives is applied only to wines from the most noble varietals that have suffered from the famous “noble rot,” Botrytis Cinerea. October 13th this year, several weeks after the first snipping of the shears, saw the beginning of our harvest of the grapes that will be incorporated in wines carrying that prestigious designation.
