Hachette Wine Guide 2008

Riesling Clos Schild 2005 Grand Cru Pfingstberg The estate covers a large area on the steep hillsides of Pfingstberg, including the Clos Schild, a genuine vineyard surrounded with dry-stone walls and planted with Riesling. A pale yellow with gold reflections, this 2005 has a blended nose of floral fragrances and elegant minerals. Initially fresh and lively, it reveals ripe orchard fruits until the final note which returns to the mineral edge. Perfect today, it can also be kept for up to ten years.

Gilbert & Gaillard Wine Guide 2008

The Big Guide to French Wines 2008

The range of wines from the vineyard stretches around the village of Orschwihr, a large part being of this grand cru and also Bollenberg.
Go for the remarkably fine Pfingstberg wines and don't miss the Pinot Noir Weid from Bollenberg.
Grand Cru Pfingstberg Pinot Gris 2002
  Sweet white
A rich pinot with a smokey nose, full and round in the mouth with a spicy end note.
Grand Cru Pfingstberg Riesling 2005
An open Riesling with a complex nose, very mineral in the fleshy mouth and a very light bitter end note.
Clos des Récollets Pinot Gris 2002
Coming from a walled vineyard located above Rouffach, this wine is concentrated with a very mineral demi-sec balance. The end notes are of dried fruits and forest undergrowth.
Clos Himmelreich Riesling 2004
Grown in a walled garden with chalky soil at the summit of Pfingstberg with one foot in the grand cru, this wine is still closed and compact, with a discreet nose and a dense, powerful, quite mineral nose.
Clos Schild Riesling 2003
At the heart of the Pfingstberg grand cru, the wine transcends the 2003 vintage with a discreetly smoked nose and a full mouth.
